Abstract
To improve the cycle characteristics of a lithium ion battery, a mixture of a powder of a conversion-type oxide made of an iron oxide and/or a silicon oxide and causing a conversion reaction with Li ions and a powder of an oxygen ion conductor are used as a negative electrode material of the lithium ion battery.

A negative electrode material for a lithium ion battery, the negative electrode material comprising
- a mixture of a powder of a conversion-type oxide and a powder of an oxygen ion conductor, the conversion-type oxide being made of an iron oxide and/or a silicon oxide and causing a conversion reaction with Li ions.
