Described herein is a photovoltaic module, which includes PV cells capable of converting light incoming from the front side and from the rear side, the module including a front side exposing an upper external surface designed for receiving direct sunlight and a rear side exposing a lower external surface designed for receiving diffuse light, where the lower external surface is formed, at least in part, by a microstructured layer, characterized in that the microstructured layer includes pyramidal microstructures whose triangular bases are fixed in the layer. The microstructured layer results in anisotropic transmission properties. The module shows improved efficiency compared to similar bifacial PV modules.
A photovoltaic module comprising one or more bifacial photovoltaic cells, the module comprising a front side exposing an upper external surface designed for receiving direct sunlight and a rear side exposing a lower external surface designed for receiving diffuse light, wherein the lower external surface is formed, at least in part, by a microstructured layer,
A method for the manufacturing of a photovoltaic module comprising PV cells capable of converting light incoming from the front side and from the rear side, the method comprising the step of structuring the module's transparent back side with microstructures in a layer of a transparent coating material either by applying, structuring and curing said coating material on the module's back side, or by applying a transparent sheet onto the module's back side wherein said sheet contains one microstructured surface comprising an UV cured coating material, characterized in that said microstructures comprise a plurality of triangular based pyramides.
A method of using a transparent polymer film comprising a microstructured surface, which surface comprises a plurality of triangular based pyramids, for the manufacture of a photovoltaic module comprising PV cells capable of converting light incoming from the front side and from the rear side.
