Collecting sensor data of vehicles

A computer-implemented method for collecting sensor data of a vehicle, comprising the following steps:

• receiving, in the vehicle, request data that describe at least one data record missing in an existing field data record;
• continuously recording sensor data for the vehicle during operation of the vehicle and storing recorded sensor data in a short-term memory;
• receiving an acknowledge signal indicating that certain of the recorded sensor data corresponds to a missing data record;
• and
• storing the certain recorded sensor data in a second memory after receiving the acknowledge signal before the recorded sensor data are deleted from the short-term memory.

A vehicle, configured to:

• receive, in the vehicle, request data that describe at least one data record missing in an existing field data record;
• continuously record sensor data for the vehicle during operation of the vehicle and storing recorded sensor data in a short-term memory;
• receive an acknowledge signal indicating that certain of the recorded sensor data corresponds to a missing data record;
• and
• store the certain recorded sensor data in a second memory after receiving the acknowledge signal before the recorded sensor data are deleted from the short-term memory.
