Method and apparatus for attaching tissue to bone, including the provision and use of a novel knotless suture anchor system

Apparatus for securing an object to bone, the apparatus comprising:

• an anchor comprising:
• a body having a distal end, a proximal end and a passageway extending at least partially between the distal end and the proximal end, wherein the body comprises a generally cylindrical outer surface having a recess, and further wherein the passageway of the body is off-center from the cylindrical outer surface of the body at the recess;
• and
• a movable element movably disposed in the passageway of the body.

Apparatus for securing an object to bone, the apparatus comprising:

• an anchor comprising:
• a body having a distal end, a proximal end and a passageway extending at least partially between the distal end and the proximal end, wherein the body comprises a longitudinal axis and the passageway comprises a longitudinal axis, wherein the longitudinal axis of the passageway of the body is eccentric to the longitudinal axis of the body, and further wherein the body comprises a generally cylindrical outer surface having a recess;
• and
• a movable element movably disposed in the passageway of the body.
