Infusion devices and related methods and systems for preemptive alerting

A method for insulin therapy, the method comprising:

• operating a motor of an infusion device to deliver insulin, wherein the motor is operable to deliver the insulin to a body of a user, the insulin influencing a physiological condition of the body of the user;
• obtaining a current glucose measurement value for the physiological condition of the body of the user;
• determining a current amount of active insulin in the body of the user;
• identifying an amount of future insulin deliveries to be delivered by the infusion device;
• determining a homeostasis metric based at least in part on the current amount of active insulin in the body of the user, the amount of future insulin deliveries, and the current glucose measurement value, wherein determining the homeostasis metric comprises predicting a change in the current glucose measurement value based on accounting for metabolism of the current amount of active insulin and the amount of future insulin deliveries;
• and
• providing a notification based at least in part on the homeostasis metric.
