Abstract
The present invention is a computer program product and method for increasing the playback speed of audio or other media files. The computer program product and method identifies pedagogic media files and adds a flag to the metadata of the media file. The flag represents the number and type of pauses or silent sections in the pedagogic media file. Based on the flag, the computer program product and method may fast forward or remove a portion of the pauses and silent sections to provide a new playback speed.

A computer program product providing increased playback speed of audio files, the computer program comprising a computer readable storage medium having program instructions embodied therewith, wherein the computer readable storage medium is not a transitory signal per se, the program instructions are readable by a computer to cause the computer to perform a method comprising the steps of:
- identifying a pedagogic media file;
- adding a flag to metadata of the pedagogic media file;
- wherein the flag is representative of pauses in the pedagogic media file;
- and
- providing one or more new playback speeds based at least in part on the flag.
