Abstract
Methods for assessing the microbiome of a canid are provided. The methods include, inter alia, detecting one or more bacterial taxa in a sample obtained from the canid, correlating the one or more bacterial taxa to a control data set, and determining the microbiome biological age.
Claims40
A method of determining the microbiome biological age status of a canid, comprising
- (a) detecting one or more bacterial taxa in a sample obtained from the canid;
- (b) correlating the one or more bacterial taxa in the sample to a control data set;
- and
- (c) determining the microbiome biological age status.

A method of monitoring a canid, comprising a step of determining the microbiome biological age status of the animal on at least two time points by
- (a) detecting one or more bacterial taxa in a sample obtained from the canid;
- (b) correlating the one or more bacterial taxa in the sample to a control data set and
- (c) determining the microbiome biological age status.

A method of monitoring the microbiome biological age status in a canid that has received a dietary change, a supplement, a functional food, a nutraceutical or a pharmaceutical composition or an exercise/physical activity regimen, which is able to change the microbiome composition, comprising determining the microbiome biological age status by
- (a) detecting one or more bacterial taxa in a sample obtained from the canid;
- (b) correlating the one or more bacterial taxa in the sample to a control data set and
- (c) determining the microbiome biological age status.
