Abstract
This application provides a random access method and a communications apparatus, so that a terminal device can determine a type of random access to be performed. The method includes: determining at least one random access preamble from at least one 2-step random access preamble, or determining one type of random access preamble from at least one 2-step random access preamble and at least one 4-step random access preamble, and performing random access by using the determined random access preamble.
Claims20
A random access method by a terminal device, comprising:
- determining a random access preamble from at least one 2-step random access preamble;
- performing 2-step random access by using the random access preamble;
- wherein the method further comprises:
- performing 4-step random access when the 2-step random access fails, by using any random access preamble in one or more groups of random access preamble groups comprising the random access preamble used in the 2-step random access.
An apparatus, comprising:
- a processor and a memory storing instructions;
- wherein the instructions are executed by the processor to cause the apparatus to perform the operations of:
- determining a random access preamble from at least one 2-step random access preamble;
- performing 2-step random access by using the random access preamble;
- performing 4-step random access when the 2-step random access fails, by using any random access preamble in one or more groups of random access preamble groups comprising the random access preamble used in the 2-step random access.
A non-transitory computer-readable storage medium, wherein the storage medium stores a computer program or instructions, wherein the computer program or the instructions are executed by a computer to perform the operations of:
- determining a random access preamble from at least one 2-step random access preamble;
- performing 2-step random access by using the random access preamble;
- performing 4-step random access when the 2-step random access fails, by using any random access preamble in one or more groups of random access preamble groups comprising the random access preamble used in the 2-step random access.
