Abstract
A method and apparatus for device establishing redundant relay nodes in a mesh network.
Claims15
1:
- A method, being performed by a sender of an EPREP message, for setting up a path with one or more selected relaying nodes and one or more redundant relaying nodes from a path originator to a path destination, where the path originator, the one or more selected relaying nodes, the one or more redundant relaying nodes and path destination participate in a mesh network, the method comprising:
- assign a selected relay node for the path;
- assign one or more redundant relay nodes for the path;
- generate an EPREP message;
- and
- send the EPREP message as a broadcast message.

2:
- The method according to claim 1, where assigning the redundant relay is based on determining that the redundant relay node must have links to both the sender of the EPREP Message and the selected relay node.
3:
- The method according to claim 2, where the determining is based on obtaining neighbour table information from either the selected relay node, the redundant relay node or both.
4:
- The method according to claim 1, further comprising:
- starting a notification timer for each redundant relay node.
5:
- A method, being performed by a receiver of an EPREP message, for setting up a path with one or more selected relaying nodes and one or more redundant relaying nodes from a path originator to a path destination, where the path originator, the one or more selected relaying nodes, the one or more redundant relaying nodes and path destination participate in a mesh network, the method comprising:
- receive an EPREP message;
- determine from the EPREP message whether the receiver of the EPREP message is assigned as a redundant relay node;
- and
- when the receiver of the EPREP message is assigned as a redundant relay node, add a new entry, as a redundant relay node, in the local forwarding table.
2 more elements
6:
- The method according to claim 5, further comprising;
- generating and sending a notification message to the sender of the EPREP message.
7:
- A device for setting up a path with one or more selected relaying nodes and one or more redundant relaying nodes from a path originator to a path destination, where the path originator, the one or more selected relaying nodes, the one or more redundant relaying nodes and path destination participate in a mesh network, the device comprising:
- an assigning unit configured to assign a selected relay node for the path, and assign one or more redundant relay nodes for the path;
- a controller unit configured to generate an EPREP message;
- and
- a transceiver unit configured to send the EPREP message as a broadcast message.
2 more elements
8:
- The device according to claim 7, wherein the assigning unit is further configured to assign one or more redundant relay nodes based on a determining unit configured to determine that the redundant relay node must have links to both the sender of the EPREP Message and the selected relay node.
9:
- The device according to claim 8, where the determining unit is further configured to obtaining neighbour table information from either the selected relay node, the redundant relay node or both.
10:
- The device according to claim 1, further comprising:
- the controller unit starting a notification timer for each redundant relay node.
11:
- A device for setting up a path with one or more selected relaying nodes and one or more redundant relaying nodes from a path originator to a path destination, where the path originator, the one or more selected relaying nodes, the one or more redundant relaying nodes and path destination participate in a mesh network, the device comprising:
- a transceiver configured to receive an EPREP message;
- a determining unit configured to:
- determine from the EPREP message whether the receiver of the EPREP message is assigned as a redundant relay node;
- and
- when the receiver of the EPREP message is assigned as a redundant relay node, add a new entry, as a redundant relay node, in the local forwarding table.
3 more elements
12:
- The device according to claim 11, further comprising the transceiver unit being configured to sending a notification message to the sender of the EPREP message.
13:
- A non-transitory computer readable storage medium having stored therein a computer program which, when executed on a processor of a device, causes the device to perform a method for setting up a path with one or more selected relaying nodes and one or more redundant relaying nodes from a path originator to a path destination, where the path originator, the one or more selected relaying nodes, the one or more redundant relaying nodes and path destination participate in a mesh network, the method comprising:
- assign a selected relay node for the path;
- assign one or more redundant relay nodes for the path;
- generate an EPREP message;
- and
- send the EPREP message as a broadcast message.
3 more elements
14:
- A non-transitory computer readable storage medium comprising a computer program which, when executed on a processor of a device causes the device to perform a method for setting up a path with one or more selected relaying nodes and one or more redundant relaying nodes from a path originator to a path destination, where the path originator, the one or more selected relaying nodes, the one or more redundant relaying nodes and path destination participate in a mesh network, the method comprising:
- receive an EPREP message;
- determine from the EPREP message whether the receiver of the EPREP message is assigned as a redundant relay node;
- and
- when the receiver of the EPREP message is assigned as a redundant relay node, add a new entry, as a redundant relay node, in the local forwarding table.
