Abstract
A fuel cell system capable of improving the chemical durability of a membrane electrode assembly by compensating for the amount of an antioxidant lost within the electrolyte membrane or electrode of the fuel cell stack in such a manner that the antioxidant is provided from an antioxidant supply device, provided in a fuel processing system and/or an air processing system, to a fuel cell stack, in preparation for a case where the antioxidant within the electrolyte membrane or electrode is lost due to the dissolution or migration characteristic of the antioxidant.
Claims20
A fuel cell system comprising:
- an antioxidant supply device positioned at a predetermined location of a fuel processing system (FPS) for supplying hydrogen to a fuel cell stack, a predetermined location of an air processing system (APS) for supplying air to the fuel cell stack, or a predetermined location of the FPS and the APS;
- and
- a controller configured to determine when an antioxidant needs to be further supplied to the fuel cell stack, to control the antioxidant to be supplied from the antioxidant supply device positioned at the predetermined location of the FPS or the APS to the fuel cell stack, or to control the antioxidant to be supplied from the antioxidant supply device positioned at the predetermined location of the FPS and the APS to the fuel cell stack.
