Streamlining an automatic visual inspection process

A method for automatic visual inspection, the method comprising:

• using a processor to
• display a first image of a first item on an inspection line and a first item's outline that surrounds the first item in the first image;
• receive confirmation of the first image;
• detect a same-type item on the inspection line in a second image;
• and
• display the second image with the first item's outline surrounding the same-type item in the second image.

A system for automatic visual inspection, the system comprising:

• a processing unit in communication with a user interface device, the processing unit configured to
• cause a bounding shape to be displayed in a first image on the user interface device, the first image comprising a first object and the bounding shape surrounding the first object,
• accept input via the user interface device, and
• based on the input, cause the bounding shape to be displayed in a second image on the user interface, the second image comprising a same-type object and the bounding shape surrounding the same-type object.

A visual inspection set-up process, the process comprising using a processor to:

• display an image of an object on an inspection line,
• receive user confirmation of the object to obtain a user confirmed image,
• acquire additional images of same-type objects on the inspection line, and
• after a plurality of additional images are acquired, display to the user images of same-type objects that differ from the user confirmed image, to obtain user confirmation or adjustment of the additional images, thereby minimizing an amount of time required from the user to review images.
