Abstract
Systems and methods for providing multimodal access to block devices in a distributed storage system are disclosed. In one implementation, a processing device may identify a block device snapshot stored at a block-based repository of a distributed storage system. The block device may also implement an object-based proxy container associated with the block-based repository. The processing device may further provide, to a client of the distributed storage system, access to the object-based proxy container via an object-based gateway of the distributed storage system.
Claims20
A method, comprising:
- identifying, by a processing device, a block device snapshot stored at a block-based repository of a distributed storage system;
- implementing, by the processing device, an object-based proxy container associated with the block-based repository;
- and
- providing, to a client of the distributed storage system, access to the object-based proxy container via an object-based gateway of the distributed storage system.
A system comprising:
- a memory;
- and
- a processing device operatively coupled to the memory, wherein the processing device is further to:
- receive, from a client, a request via an API call of an object-based gateway to create a block device snapshot on a block-based repository of a distributed storage system;
- translate the API call of the object-based gateway to a block-based API call corresponding to creating a block device snapshot at the block-based repository;
- and
- perform the block-based API call to create the block device snapshot on the block-based repository.
A non-transitory computer-readable storage medium comprising executable instructions that, when executed by a processing device, cause the processing device to:
- identify a file system snapshot stored at a file-based repository of a distributed storage system;
- map an object-based proxy container to the file-based repository of the distributed storage system;
- and
- provide, to a client of the distributed storage system, access to the object-based proxy container via an object-based gateway of the distributed storage system.
