Passive reference object for thermographic camera

A system, comprising:

• a housing;
• a thermographic camera coupled to the housing and having a line of sight;
• a reference object coupled to the housing with at least a portion of the reference object positioned in the line of sight of the thermographic camera;
• one or more processors;
• and
• non-transitory memory storing a set of instructions that, as a result of execution by the one or more processors, cause the system to:
• activate the thermographic camera;
• obtain, with the thermographic camera, a first temperature of a subject;
• obtain, with the thermographic camera, a second temperature of the reference object;
• analyze the second temperature based on a known property of the reference object to generate an adjusted first temperature of the subject;
• and
• output the adjusted first temperature of the subject.

A method, comprising:

• activating a thermographic camera;
• capturing, with the thermographic camera, a first temperature of a subject;
• capturing, with the thermographic camera, a second temperature of a reference object;
• analyzing the second temperature based on a known property of the reference object to generate an adjusted first temperature of the subject;
• and
• outputting the adjusted first temperature.
