Method for the manufacture of multimaterial roll and the multimaterial roll

Method for the manufacture of multimaterial rolls comprising following steps:

• Base material containing part of the roll ingot is produced based on the selected method so, that the base material is such ferrous material which contains other alloying elements than iron maximum 15 weight-%,
• Special material containing part is joined to the base material containing parts of the roll ingot, which is produced using a suitable method so that special material density is at least 90% of its theoretical density and it forms 5-40 volume-% of the total volume of base material and special materials,
• The base material and special material containing part of the roll ingot is hot worked at least for the part of the length of the roll ingot so, that following is reached after hot working;
• The length of the roll is longer than roll ingot length before hot working, and/or
• The diameter of the roll is smaller than roll ingot diameter before hot working, and/or
• Roll shaft diameter is smaller than base material diameter before hot working, and
• Multimaterial special material layer thickness is at least 5 mm,
• wherein, before hot working at least the special materials containing parts of the roll ingot is encapsulated by capsule using at least 0.5 mm thick metal sheet and other metal components to protect encapsulated parts of the roll ingot during hot working.
