Abstract
An exercise accessory includes a load bearing shaft. It further includes a ring-shaped actuator oriented substantially concentrically to the shaft that is responsive to radial pressure from a user. The radial pressure from the user causes a control signal to be transmitted from the exercise accessory to an exercise machine.

An exercise accessory comprising:
- a load bearing shaft;
- and
- a ring-shaped actuator oriented substantially concentrically to the shaft that is responsive to radial pressure from a user;
- wherein the radial pressure from the user causes a control signal to be transmitted from the exercise accessory to an exercise machine.
