Systems and methods for sanitizing mobile electronic devices

A sanitizing system comprising:

• a housing with an interior;
• an entry system with a default closed position, the entry system being configured to permit a mobile electronic device to pass through the entry system and then to automatically return to the default closed position;
• a sanitizer contained within the housing configured to emit radiation with a sanitizing effect;
• a receiver system configured to receive a mobile electronic device that is inserted into the housing, the receiver system configured to automatically move the mobile electronic device fully into the interior of the housing, to expose the mobile electronic device to a sanitizing procedure, and to automatically move the mobile electronic device at least partially outside of the housing;
• and
• a plurality of supports positioned on at least two different lateral interior surfaces of the housing, the plurality of supports being shaped, positioned, and oriented to guide the mobile electronic device into and out of the sanitizing system while preventing the mobile electronic device from contacting the interior surfaces on which the plurality of supports are positioned, the plurality of supports each shaped so that a vertical height is greater than a horizontal width.
