Abstract
The present invention relates to a method of implanting a penile implant for curing impotence of a patient. The method comprises the steps of cutting a skin of the patient, dissecting an area of a corpus cavernosum of a penis of the patient, implanting the penile implant in the corpus cavernosum. The penile implant is implanted by placing a relatively short proximal portion of the penile implant in the root of the penis, placing a flexible relatively long distal portion of the penile implant such that it extends along or in the pendulous or protruding part of the penis.

A method of implanting a penile implant for curing impotence of a patient, comprising:
- cutting a skin of the patient,
- dissecting an area of a corpus cavernosum of a penis of the patient,
- implanting the penile implant in the corpus cavernosum by:
- placing a relatively short proximal portion of the penile implant in the root of the penis, and
- placing a flexible relatively long distal portion of the penile implant such that it extends along or in the pendulous or protruding part of the penis,
- such that a bending portion of said penile implant is placed or located between the proximal and distal portion, or in the vicinity of the position where the proximal and distal portion meet,
- wherein the penile implant is adapted to be postoperatively and non-invasively adjustable to selectively assume an in-activated state, in which said penis is flaccid, and an activated state, in which said penis is erected,
- wherein said the bending portion being adapted to in the activated state allow the proximal portion to assume a position that is more upwardly oriented than a position of the proximal portion,
- wherein said bending portion comprises an expandable structure configured to, when implanted, assume the activated state by expanding its underside to a length extension that exceeds a length extension of its upper side.
