Abstract
The present disclosure relates to the use of alkali metal salts and preferably lithium chloride for treatment of Varroa destructor infestation of honey bees.

A method of prophylactic, therapeutic, or prophylactic and therapeutic treatment of Varroa destructor mite infestation of bees, the method comprising administering an organic or inorganic salt of lithium to said bees, wherein said lithium salt is a miticidal agent.
