Abstract
A rodent barrier system includes a plurality of panels joined together into an enclosure surrounding a motor vehicle and preventing access to the vehicle by small rodents. The system includes a number of relatively flexible panels that can be bent to define corners of the enclosure. Each of the panels has a smooth outer surface that resists scaling by rodents. The panels also include attachment structures that aid in joining the panels together.
Claims18
A system, comprising:
- a first panel having a plurality of pleats extending, parallel to a first axis, between a first edge of the panel and a second edge of the panel, opposite the first edge;
- a first flange formed at a third edge of the panel and lying parallel to the first axis;
- a second flange formed at a fourth edge of the panel, opposite the third edge, and lying parallel to the first axis;
- a first attachment structure positioned on the first flange and configured to couple the first panel to a second panel;
- and
- a second attachment structure positioned on the second flange and configured to couple the first panel to a third panel.

A system, comprising:
- a flexible panel having first and second edges opposite each other and third and fourth edges opposite each other, including:
- a first attachment structure of a first type, positioned adjacent to the first edge of the flexible panel, and
- a second attachment structure of the first type, positioned adjacent to the second edge of the flexible panel;
- and
- a rigid panel having first and second edges opposite each other and third and fourth edges opposite each other, a distance between the third and fourth edges of the rigid panel being substantially equal to a distance between the third and fourth edges of the flexible panel, the rigid panel including:
- a first attachment structure of a second type configured to couple with an attachment structure of the first type, positioned adjacent to the first edge of the rigid panel, and
- a second attachment structure of the second type positioned adjacent to the second edge of the rigid panel.

A method, comprising:
- forming an enclosure that is resistant to entrance by one or more types of rodents by coupling a plurality of panels edge-to-edge to form the enclosure, including:
- positioning flexible panels at corners of the enclosure and bending the flexible panels around the corners;
- positioning rigid panels along portions of the enclosure that are substantially straight;
- resisting passage of the one or more types of rodents beneath the enclosure by aligning bottom edges of the plurality of panels;
- and
- selecting the plurality of panels to have a height that is sufficient to discourage passage of the one or more types of rodents over the enclosure.
