Reliable paging and short message transmission with repetition

A base station for wireless communication, comprising:

• a memory storing computer-executable instructions;
• and
• at least one processor coupled with the memory and configured to execute the computer-executable instructions to:
• determine paging occasion configuration indicating repetition of a first paging physical downlink control channel (PDCCH) monitoring occasion by identifying a second paging PDCCH monitoring occasion, the first paging PDCCH monitoring occasion and the second paging PDCCH monitoring occasion corresponding to a same PDCCH;
• transmit the paging occasion configuration to a user equipment (UE);
• and
• transmit, based on the paging occasion configuration, the same PDCCH on resources for the first paging PDCCH monitoring occasion and resources for the second paging PDCCH monitoring occasion.

A method of wireless communication at a base station, comprising:

• determining paging occasion configuration indicating repetition of a first paging physical downlink control channel (PDCCH) monitoring occasion by identifying a second paging PDCCH monitoring occasion, the first paging PDCCH monitoring occasion and the second paging PDCCH monitoring occasion corresponding to a same PDCCH;
• transmitting the paging occasion configuration to a user equipment (UE);
• and
• transmitting, based on the paging occasion configuration, the same PDCCH on resources for the first paging PDCCH monitoring occasion and resources for the second paging PDCCH monitoring occasion.
