Techniques for uplink performance optimization in dual carrier operation

A user equipment (UE) for wireless communication, comprising:

• a memory;
• and
• one or more processors operatively coupled to the memory, the memory and the one or more processors configured to:
• communicate on a primary carrier using a first antenna port;
• communicate on a secondary carrier using a second antenna port;
• determine whether to switch the secondary carrier from the second antenna port to the first antenna port based on a channel condition associated with the second antenna port;
• and
• switch the secondary carrier from the second antenna port to the first antenna port based on a determination to switch the secondary carrier from the second antenna port to the first antenna port.

A non-transitory computer-readable medium storing one or more instructions for wireless communication, the one or more instructions comprising:

• one or more instructions that, when executed by one or more processors of a user equipment (UE), cause the one or more processors to:
• communicate on a primary carrier using a first antenna port;
• communicate on a secondary carrier using a second antenna port;
• determine whether to switch the secondary carrier from the second antenna port to the first antenna port based on a channel condition associated with the second antenna port;
• and
• switch the secondary carrier from the second antenna port to the first antenna port based on a determination to switch the secondary carrier from the second antenna port to the first antenna port.
