Delegated authentication to certificate authorities

A method, comprising:

• identifying, by a connector service from a messenger service, a certificate request, the certificate request comprising a credential identifier for a certificate authority, the credential identifier uniquely identifying a certificate authority authentication credential;
• retrieving, by the connector service, the authentication credential based on the credential identifier;
• transmitting, from connector service to a certificate authority, the certificate request and the certificate authority authentication credential;
• receiving, by the connector service from the certificate authority, a certificate;
• and
• transmitting, by the connector service to the messenger service, a response to the certificate request, wherein the response comprises the certificate.

A non-transitory computer-readable medium, comprising machine-readable instructions that, when executed by a processor, cause a first computing device to at least:

• identify, by a connector service from a messenger service, a certificate request, the certificate request comprising a credential identifier for a certificate authority, the credential identifier uniquely identifying a certificate authority authentication credential;
• retrieve, by the connector service, the authentication credential based on the credential identifier;
• transmit, from connector service to a certificate authority, the certificate request and the certificate authority authentication credential;
• receive, by the connector service from the certificate authority, a certificate;
• and
• transmit, by the connector service to the messenger service, a response to the certificate request, wherein the response comprises the certificate.
