Learning illumination from diverse portraits

A computer program product comprising a nontransitory storage medium, the computer program product including code that, when executed by processing circuitry of a server computing device, causes the processing circuitry to perform a method, the method comprising:

• receiving image training data representing a plurality of images, each of the plurality of images including at least one of a plurality of human faces, each of the plurality of human faces having been formed by combining images of one or more faces as illuminated by at least one of a plurality of illumination sources in a physical or virtual environment, each of the plurality of illuminations sources having been situated at a respective orientation of a plurality of orientations within the physical or virtual environment;
• and
• generating a prediction engine based on the plurality of images, the prediction engine being configured to produce a predicted illumination profile from input image data, the input image data representing one input human face.
