Azeotropic and azeotrope-like compositions comprising z-1,1,1,4,4,4-hexafluoro-2-butene and methyl perfluoropropyl ether

A process comprising using an azeotrope-like composition consisting essentially of:

• (a) Z-1,1,1,4,4,4-hexafluoro-2-butene;
• and
• (b) methyl perfluoropropyl ether;
• wherein the methyl perfluoropropyl ether is present in an effective amount to form an azeotrope-like combination with the Z-1,1,1,4,4,4-hexafluoro-2-butene;
• as a heat transfer media.

A method for transferring heat comprising:

• a. providing a device;
• and
• b. using a heat-transfer fluid to transfer heat to or from the device, wherein the heat transfer fluid consists essentially of an azeotrope-like composition consisting essentially of:
• (a) Z-1,1,1,4,4,4-hexafluoro-2-butene;
• and
• (b) methyl perfluoropropyl ether;
• wherein the methyl perfluoropropyl ether is present in an effective amount to form an azeotrope-like combination with the Z-1,1,1,4,4,4-hexafluoro-2-butene.

A apparatus comprising a device and a mechanism for transferring heat to or from the device using a heat-transfer fluid, wherein the heat-transfer fluid consists essentially of an azeotrope-like composition consisting essentially of:

• (a) Z-1,1,1,4,4,4-hexafluoro-2-butene;
• and
• (b) methyl perfluoropropyl ether;
• wherein the methyl perfluoropropyl ether is present in an effective amount to form an azeotrope-like combination with the Z-1,1,1,4,4,4-hexafluoro-2-butene.
