Charge pump stability control

An apparatus for power conversion, the apparatus comprising:

• a controller to receive one or more feedback signals and to generate one or more control signals to operate sets of switches interconnected with charge pump capacitors and external to the controller substantially in accordance with a switching frequency,
• the sets of switches to implement a switching pattern for a charge pump based, at least in part, on the one or more control signals to cycle the charge pump capacitors through different capacitor network configurations, a particular capacitor network configuration of the different capacitor network configurations to correspond to a particular pump-state of a plurality of pump-states comprising a full operating cycle of the charge pump,
• wherein the plurality of pump-states to comprise at least a first, a second, and a third pump-state, the third pump-state to occur between the first and the second pump-state, and
• wherein the controller, during the full operating cycle of the charge pump, to balance a total change in charge on the charge pump capacitors via adjusting the switching frequency by varying duration of at least one of the following:
• the first pump-state;
• the second pump-state;
• the third pump-state;
• or any combination thereof based, at least in part, on the one or more feedback signals.
