A system for processing biological material includes a first module and at least a second module, in which each of said first and second modules has at least the following identical characteristics: a size and a shape of a housing; a storage device being rotatably located within said housing; and a plurality of plate slots located in the storage device for receiving plates or containers carrying pipette tips, cell cultures or liquids. The first and second modules are selected from a process module, a storage module, an incubator, a freezer, a plastic-ware store, a refrigerator or a centrifuge.
1-4. (canceled)
The system of claim 17, wherein a first means of influencing a first climate in the first housing (102) differs from a second means of influencing a second climate in the second housing (102).
8-9. (canceled)
The system of claim 17, wherein movement of the first robotic handling device (160) is constrained to a horizontal and/or vertical movement in a straight direction.
The system of claim 17, wherein each of the plate slots from the first and second plurality of plate slots (110) comprises a footprint of a microplate.
The system of claim 17, further comprising means (132, 232) to firmly connect the first and second modules (100) together.
The system of claim 18, wherein the first module (100) is a process module (120) comprising at least one handling robot (340) for aspirating a liquid medium.
The system of claim 18, wherein the sealing element (311) is a piece of a pipe connecting the first frame (315) with the second frame (315).
