Abstract
A cleaning device for high voltage transmission and distribution insulators, featuring orthogonally oriented scrubbing and wiping attachments for the simultaneous cleaning of perpendicular surfaces, which extend to an insulator surface from telescoping support prongs, which are supported by a handle which provides a gripping location for manual operation of the present invention.
Claims1
An electrically insulated and multi-pronged cleaning device which conforms to the surfaces of stacked electrical insulator discs for their wet cleaning, having cleaning agent application and removal capabilities, comprising:
- A handle piece comprising of a loop;
- a prong junction member, which connects to said handle, and which has a bolted or welded hardware connection port at a minimum of three equidistant points along its length;
- a plurality of rigid and extending support prongs, where a prong is comprised of a segmented and nested shell structure, with a positional retainer button located on each segment, with a support prong having at one end a head which branches to create dual and oppositely oriented extensions to which are connected dual threaded attachment ports at locations such that their faces are oriented orthogonal and perpendicular, and where each extending support prong attaches to a hardware connection port on the prong junction member at an opposite end of the head of the support prong;
- and
- a plurality of flexible rubber bladed cleaner attachments, and a plurality of liquid absorbent cleaner attachments, where said cleaning attachments mate as a pair both vertically and horizontally with the dual attachment ports on the branching extensions of the support prongs, such that each support prong controls a pair of rubber blade cleaners and absorbent cleaners, with cleaners oriented perpendicularly to form a right angle cleaning surface, on either side of its branching head.
