Method and device for improving handover performance in mobile communication system

A method performed by a terminal in a wireless communication system, the method comprising:

• transmitting, to a source base station, information on a support of an enhanced make before break (eMBB) of the terminal;
• receiving, from the source base station, a radio resource control (RRC) reconfiguration message including information indicating a handover associated with the eMBB;
• and
• in response to the receiving of the RRC reconfiguration, transmitting, to a target base station, a message to perform the handover associated with the eMBB,
• wherein in case that the handover associated with the eMBB to the target base station fails and a data channel between the terminal and the source base station is available, a radio link failure (RLF) of the terminal is not detected.

A terminal in a wireless communication system, the terminal comprising:

• a transceiver;
• and
• at least one processor configured to:
• transmit via the transceiver, to a source base station, information on a support of an enhanced make before break (eMBB) of the terminal,
• receive via the transceiver, from the source base station, a radio resource control (RRC) reconfiguration message including information indicating a handover associated with the eMBB, and
• in response to the reception of the RRC reconfiguration, transmit via the transceiver, to a target base station, a message to perform the handover associated with the eMBB,
• wherein in case that the handover associated with the eMBB to the target base station fails and a data channel between the terminal and the source base station is available, a radio link failure (RLF) of the terminal is not detected.
