Abstract
An RF shut off system includes a sensor for indicating a mast or antenna position such that an antenna supported by the mast is operable or not according to an indication of the sensor.
Claims21
An RF shut down system comprising:
- a structure including an elongated mast and an antenna supported by the mast;
- a sensor carried by the structure, the sensor indicating indicia of antenna position;
- signals for driving the antenna available when the sensor indicates indicia of antenna position are consistent with an antenna position that maintains a safe distance between the antenna and persons below;
- and,
- signals for driving the antenna are not available when the sensor indicates indicia of antenna position that are not consistent with an antenna position that maintains a safe distance between the antenna and persons below.
2 more elements
An RF shut down method comprising the steps of:
- providing a structure including an elongated mast supporting an antenna;
- driving the antenna such that it emits RF radiation when a sensor located on the structure indicates the antenna is sufficiently far above the ground;
- and,
- ceasing to drive the antenna when the sensor indicates the antenna is not sufficiently far above the ground.

An RF shut down method comprising the steps of:
- providing a structure including an elongated mast supporting an antenna;
- locating an impact sensor on the structure;
- and,
- using impact sensor measurements to determine if antenna transmissions should cease or if antenna transmission power should be reduced.
