Abstract
A memory system includes a nonvolatile semiconductor memory, a controller that controls the nonvolatile semiconductor memory, and a temperature sensor that acquires an operating temperature of at least one of the nonvolatile semiconductor memory and the controller. The controller calculates a temperature parameter based on operating temperatures acquired by the temperature sensor over a period of time, and switches between a plurality of operation settings in which electric power consumptions of the memory system vary, based on the temperature parameter.

A memory system comprising:
- a nonvolatile semiconductor memory;
- a controller configured to control the nonvolatile semiconductor memory;
- and
- a temperature sensor for acquiring an operating temperature of at least one of the nonvolatile semiconductor memory and the controller,
- wherein the controller is configured to calculate a temperature parameter based on operating temperatures acquired by the temperature sensor over a period of time, and to switch between a plurality of operation settings in which electric power consumptions of the memory system vary, based on the temperature parameter.
A memory system comprising:
- a nonvolatile semiconductor memory;
- a controller configured to control the nonvolatile semiconductor memory;
- and
- a temperature sensor for acquiring an operating temperature of at least one of the nonvolatile semiconductor memory and the controller,
- wherein the controller is configured to:
- calculate a temperature parameter based on operating temperatures acquired by the temperature sensor over a period of time that starts after a power-on of the memory system, and
- switch between a plurality of operation settings in which electric power consumptions of the memory system vary, based on the temperature parameter.
A method of selecting an operation setting of a memory system that includes a nonvolatile semiconductor memory and a controller configured to control the nonvolatile semiconductor memory, among a plurality of operation settings in which electric power consumptions of the memory system vary, said method comprising:
- acquiring an operating temperature of at least one of the nonvolatile semiconductor memory and the controller at predefined time intervals while the memory system is powered-on regardless of whether or not the operating temperature satisfies a specific temperature;
- calculating a temperature parameter based on the acquired operating temperatures;
- and
- selecting one of the plurality of operation settings based on the temperature parameter.
