Abstract
The invention relates to a method for diagnosing a disease that is accompanied by reduced bone density and/or calcium loss, comprising the following steps: a) determining isotope ratios or amount ratios of alkaline-earth metal portions in a sample of urine or blood or stool, b) thereby determining at least one sample value, and c) comparing the at least one sample value with a threshold value, the threshold value being selected independently of one or more factors determined by the individual patient. The invention further relates to a test kit for use in carrying out the method.

A method for diagnosing a disease that is accompanied by reduced bone density and/or calcium loss, comprising the following steps:
- a) determining isotope ratios or amount ratios of alkaline-earth metal portions in a sample of urine or blood or stool,
- b) thereby determining at least one sample value, and
- c) comparing the at least one sample value with a threshold value, characterised in that the threshold value is selected independently of one or more factors determined by the individual patient.
A test kit for use in a method for diagnosing a disease that is accompanied by reduced bone density and/or calcium loss, comprising:
- a packaging which comprises:
- a collection container for receiving the sample liquid,
- at least one monovette for receiving part of the sample liquid and for transporting it to a measuring device that determines isotope ratios and/or amount ratios of alkaline-earth metal portions, and
- instructions,
- wherein the instructions have a fixed threshold value, which is independent of the individual, for the isotope ratio and/or the amount ratio of the alkaline-earth metal portions for comparison with the one or more sample values to be ascertained.
