Method and device for simulating a technical system

A non-transitory machine-readable storage medium on which is stored a computer program for simulating a technical system, the computer program, when executed by a computer, causing the computer to perform the following steps:

• obtaining time series using a simulation model of the system, variable values being assigned to at least one epistemic parameter of the simulation model;
• obtaining at least one measurement series by corresponding measurements on the system;
• calculating, for each value of the values of the epistemic parameter, a real-value error measure of the time series for the value with respect to the measurement series, and calculating a distribution function of each of the error measures;
• and
• using, for the simulation, that value of the values for which the distribution function has a smallest distance to a Heaviside function.

A device configured to simulate a technical system in an integrated test and simulation environment, the device configured to:

• obtain time series using a simulation model of the system, variable values being assigned to at least one epistemic parameter of the simulation model;
• obtain at least one measurement series by corresponding measurements on the system;
• calculate, for each value of the values of the epistemic parameter, a real-value error measure of the time series for the value with respect to the measurement series, and calculate a distribution function of each of the error measures;
• and
• use, for the simulation, that value of the values for which the distribution function has a smallest distance to a Heaviside function.
