Barcode-based license configuration for air-gapped systems

An apparatus for configuring a license for a component configurable with a computer system, comprising:

• a memory;
• a display unit;
• and
• a processor in communication with the memory and configured to:
• store the component on the computer system;
• encode computer system information corresponding to the computer system into a barcode;
• display the barcode and a license identifier field;
• receive a license identifier in the license identifier field, wherein the license identifier is based on the barcode;
• and
• decode the license for the component based on the license identifier.

A computer-readable medium storing instructions for configuring a license for a component configurable with a computer system, executable by a processor to:

• store the component on the computer system;
• encode computer system information corresponding to the computer system into a barcode;
• display the barcode and a license identifier field;
• receive a license identifier in the license identifier field, wherein the license identifier is based on the barcode;
• and
• decode the license for the component based on the license identifier.
