Abstract
The present invention relates to CH-acidic methacrylic esters and also copolymers obtainable from CH-acidic methacrylic esters. Furthermore, the present invention relates to coating compositions comprising these copolymers.

A compound of formula (I):
- wherein R1 is selected from a hydrogen atom and a methyl group;
- and
- R2 is an optionally substituted alkylene group of formula CnHm, wherein n=2 to 4 and m=2 to 8.
A copolymer obtainable by polymerization of a monomer mixture comprising a compound of formula (I):
- wherein R1 is selected from a hydrogen atom and a methyl group;
- and
- R2 is an optionally substituted alkylene group of formula CnHm, wherein n=2 to 4 and m=2 to 8;
- and wherein the monomer mixture comprises at least 0.5 wt % of the compound of formula I based on the weight of the monomer mixture.
A coating, obtainable by applying an aqueous dispersion to an article to be coated and subsequently drying and curing the article, wherein said aqueous dispersion comprises 0.1 to 90 wt % of a copolymer based on the weight of the aqueous dispersion;
- wherein said copolymer is obtainable by polymerization of a monomer mixture comprising a compound of general formula (I):
- wherein R1 is selected from a hydrogen atom and a methyl group;
- and
- R2 is an optionally substituted alkylene group formula CnHm, wherein n=2 to 4 and m=2 to 8;
- and wherein the monomer mixture comprises at least 0.5 wt %, of the compound of formula I based on the weight of the monomer mixture.
