Puncturing resources for self-interference measurement

A base station for wireless communication, comprising:

• a memory;
• and
• one or more processors operatively coupled to the memory, the memory and the one or more processors configured to:
• decode an uplink communication from a user equipment (UE) on a physical uplink shared channel (PUSCH), the uplink communication having punctured resources;
• transmit, in association with the uplink communication, a first downlink communication on a physical downlink shared channel (PDSCH);
• and
• measure self-interference in the punctured resources of the uplink communication on the PUSCH that are within a threshold distance of resources of the first downlink communication on the PDSCH.

A user equipment (UE) for wireless communication, comprising:

• a memory;
• and
• one or more processors operatively coupled to the memory, the memory and the one or more processors configured to:
• receive a message from a base station;
• selectively perform, based at least in part on the message, rate matching or puncturing of one or more resources of an uplink communication on a physical uplink shared channel (PUSCH);
• and
• transmit the uplink communication.

A base station for wireless communication, comprising:

• a memory;
• and
• one or more processors operatively coupled to the memory, the memory and the one or more processors configured to:
• determine whether a user equipment (UE) is to perform rate matching or puncturing of one or more resources of an uplink communication on a physical uplink shared channel (PUSCH), based at least in part on a capability of the UE and a determination of whether an amount of resources impacted by self-interference satisfies a threshold;
• and
• transmit a message to the UE indicating whether the UE is to perform rate matching or puncturing of the one or more resources based at least in part on determining whether the UE is to perform rate matching or puncturing.
