The present disclosure provides a solid electrolyte material having high lithium ion conductivity. A solid electrolyte according to the present disclosure contains Li, Sm, O, and X. X is at least one element selected from the group consisting of Cl, Br, and I.

A solid electrolyte material comprising
- Li, Sm, O, and X,
- wherein X is at least one element selected from the group consisting of Cl, Br, and I, and
- the solid electrolyte material is denoted by Composition formula (1) below,
- Li2+b-3a(Sm1-xMx)aOXb (1)
- wherein M is at least one element selected from the group consisting of Y, La, and Gd, and mathematical formulae below
- 1.0≤a≤2.17
- 1.5≤b≤6.0, and
- 0≤x≤0.5
- are satisfied.
