System and method of conducting games of chance as a proxy or basis for another player

A method including a processor in communication with a user interface, a memory unit, and a database, wherein the database stores prior performance data for a plurality of players made available for selection by users through the user interface, the processor being configured to execute the method comprising the steps of:

• the processor displaying game information associated with a player on the user interface, wherein the game information identifies a wager on a game set to occur subsequent to being displayed on the user interface, each game having an unknown outcome;
• responsive to detecting receipt of a request through the user interface, the processor displaying on the user interface at least a portion of the prior performance data for the player, wherein the performance data include outcomes of one or more wagers on prior games;
• receiving through the user interface a contribution to the wager, the contribution to the wager being associated with a monetary amount;
• the processor storing a record of the contribution to the wager in the memory unit;
• the processor subsequently receiving game outcome data for the game;
• the processor determining an outcome for the wager;
• the processor modifying the performance data for the player based on the outcome for the wager;
• and
• the processor crediting to the user account stored in the memory unit a payout award based on the determined outcome for the wager and the contribution.

A system comprising a processor in communication with a user interface, a memory unit, and a database, wherein the database stores performance data for a plurality of players made available for selection by one or more users through the user interface, all being configured to:

• display game information associated with a player on the user interface, wherein the game information identifies a wager on a game set to occur subsequent to being displayed on the user interface, each game having an unknown outcome;
• responsive to detecting receipt of a request through the user interface, the processor displaying on the user interface at least a portion of the prior performance data for the player, wherein the performance data include outcomes of one or more wagers on prior games;
• receive through the user interface a contribution to the wager, the contribution to the wager being associated with a monetary amount;
• store a record of the contribution to the wager in the memory unit;
• receive game outcome data for the game;
• determine an outcome for the wager;
• modify the performance data for the player based on the outcome for the wager;
• and
• apply a credit to the user account stored in the memory unit based on the determined outcome for the wager and the contribution.
