Abstract
The invention provides compounds represented by the general formula I wherein the substituents are defined in the application. The compounds are useful in the treatment of an affective disorder, including depression, anxiety disorders including general anxiety disorder and panic disorder and obsessive compulsive disorder.

A pharmaceutical composition, comprising:
- 1-[2-(2,4-dimethylphenylsulfanyl)phenyl]piperazine or a hydrobromic acid addition salt thereof, and
- at least one pharmaceutically acceptable carrier or diluent.
A method for the treatment of an affective disorder in a human in need thereof, comprising administering to the human an amount of the composition of claim 1 comprising a therapeutically effective amount of 1-[2-(2,4-dimethylphenylsulfanyl)phenyl]piperazine or a hydrobromic acid addition salt thereof.
