Personal Care Compositions

A method of treating, preventing or ameliorating a symptom associated with a disease, disorder or condition of the skin, comprising administering to the skin of a subject in need thereof, an effective amount of a personal care composition comprising a complex comprising a plurality of short chain fatty acids;

• and a cosmetically acceptable carrier;
• wherein the plurality of short chain fatty acids comprises at least one short chain fatty acid selected from:
• lactic acid;
• pyruvic acid;
• mandelic acid;
• butanedioic acid (e.g. succinic acid);
• formic acid;
• propionic acid;
• butyric acid;
• isobutyric acid;
• valeric acid;
• isovaleric acid;
• a derivative thereof a salt thereof (e.g. sodium pyruvate);
• and a combination of two or more thereof.

A method for inhibiting:

• tyrosinase;
• collagenase;
• and/or
• elastase;
• in a patient in need thereof, comprising administering to the skin of said patient, an effective amount of a personal care composition comprising a complex comprising a plurality of short chain fatty acids;
• and a cosmetically acceptable carrier;
• wherein the plurality of short chain fatty acids comprises:
• a first component comprising a first short chain fatty acid, a derivative thereof or a salt thereof;
• a second component comprising a second short chain fatty acid, a derivative thereof or a salt thereof;
• and
• a third component comprising a third short chain fatty acid, a derivative thereof or a salt thereof.
