Abstract
A method of detecting, measuring, logging, and tracking a user's consumption of liquid through an electronic wearable on a person's wrist, hand, or other extremity used for consuming beverages is described. In preferred embodiments, the electronic wearable can detect individual sips, the final sip of a beverage, and the type of container the beverage is being consumed from.
Claims17
A computer-implemented method for identifying and grouping sips of a single beverage contained in a single drinking container, comprising:
- using an electronic device having at least one accelerometer, at least one gyroscope, or combinations thereof, wherein the computer-implemented method is capable of allowing the electronic device to (a) measure a rotation and/or peak x-axis acceleration of the electronic device during a consumption phase of a drinking event and (b) group sips based on comparing the rotation and/or the peak x-axis acceleration between multiple measured sips.
A computer-implemented method of determining a type of container from which a liquid is being consumed comprising:
- providing an electronic device comprising a processor, at least one accelerometer, at least one gyroscope, or combinations thereof;
- logging and processing acceleration or rotational data during a consumption phase of a single sip of the liquid;
- automatically grouping sips of a single beverage contained in a single drinking container;
- automatically performing a regression analysis on the sips of the single beverage contained in the single drinking container;
- automatically comparing results of the regression analysis with results of a regression analysis or regression analyses of known types of containers;
- and
- using results of the comparison of the regression analysis with the regression analysis or regression analyses of the known types of containers to automatically identify the type of container from which the liquid is being consumed.
