Abstract
A respiratory interface device is provided that includes a cushion and a faceplate. The cushion is structured to be coupled to the faceplate. The faceplate includes a peripheral end and a number of custom features. The cushion is coupled to the faceplate adjacent the faceplate peripheral end.

A method of making a respiratory interface device including a faceplate and custom features comprising:
- acquiring a 3D surface profile of a user's face;
- presenting a number of default or optimal feature characteristics;
- selecting custom feature characteristics for a number of custom features by changing one or more of the number of default or optimal feature characteristics;
- and
- producing a respiratory interface device including custom features with the selected custom feature characteristics.

A method of supplying a gas to an airway of a user, the method comprising:
- supplying the gas at a positive pressure through a respiratory interface, the respiratory interface fitting over at least part of a face of the user, wherein the respiratory interface comprises:
- a cushion structured to be coupled to a faceplate,
- the faceplate including a peripheral end and a number of custom features, and
- the cushion coupled to the faceplate adjacent the faceplate peripheral end,
- wherein the number of custom features includes custom support assembly mechanical couplings having at least one component and each custom support assembly mechanical coupling component includes a number of selectable characteristics,
- wherein the custom support assembly mechanical coupling component selectable characteristics are selected from the group including a type characteristic, a location characteristic, an orientation characteristic, a number characteristic, and a contour characteristic,
- wherein the type characteristic is selected from the group including talon clips, back-pack clips, keyed-slot clips, snaps, double slots, post and loop, hook and loop, button and slot, ball and socket, zipper, and electroadhesive pad.
