Abstract
The present invention relates to compositions and methods for controlling a gag reflex in a patient.

A method for controlling a gag reflex in a patient, the method comprising steps for:
- providing a composition consisting essentially of sodium chloride and a souring agent;
- wetting an applicator;
- adhering a therapeutic amount of the composition to the wetted applicator by contacting the composition with the wetted applicator;
- and
- administering the therapeutic amount of the composition to a patient by contacting a top surface of a patient's tongue with the wetted applicator and the therapeutic amount of the composition adhered thereto.
