Abstract
Disclosed is a vertical member for a vehicle restraint system, said vertical member being intended for attaching a guard rail of the vehicle restraint system. The vertical member includes a profiled support and a reinforcing support within the profiled support, and the longitudinal axis of the reinforcing support runs substantially parallel to the longitudinal axis of the profiled support.

A vehicle restraint system, comprising:
- at least one vertical member, wherein the vertical member comprises a profiled support and a reinforcing support arranged in the profiled support, a longitudinal axis of the reinforcing support being arranged substantially parallel to a longitudinal axis of the profiled support, the profiled support having two narrow sides and two broad sides, the profiled support and the reinforcing support being detachably fastened to one another by a connecting device;
- at least one fastening device arranged on at least one of the narrow sides of the profiled support;
- and
- at least one guard rail fastened to the at least one vertical member by the at least one fastening device.
