Abstract
A method, computer program and circuitry configured to manage resources within a radio access network. The managing of the resources is performed by distributing at least some of a plurality of resources into a plurality of pools of resources, each of the pools of resources being configured to provide data handling for a different predetermined function, each predetermined function relating to a particular service provided by the radio access network.
Claims21
A method of managing resources within a cloud radio access network for performing baseband and protocol processing, the method comprising:
- distributing at least some of a plurality of resources into a plurality of pools of resources, each of said pools of resources being configured to provide data handling for a different predetermined function, each predetermined function relating to a service provided by said radio access network;
- and
- managing at least some of said pools of resources in dependence upon the performance requirements of said corresponding service.
Circuitry providing resources within a cloud radio access network for performing baseband and protocol processing, said circuitry comprising:
- a plurality of resources said resources including general purpose processors configured to provide processing resources for said radio access network;
- said circuitry comprising resource managing circuitry configured to manage said plurality of resources by distributing at least some of said plurality of resources into a plurality of pools of resources, each of said plurality of pools of resources being configured to provide data handling for a different predetermined function, each predetermined function relating to a service provided by said radio access network;
- wherein at least some of said pools of resources are to be managed in dependence upon the performance requirements of said corresponding service.
