Parity check bits for non-coherent communication

A transmitting device for wireless communication comprising:

• a memory, and
• one or more processors operatively coupled to the memory, the memory and the one or more processors configured:
• to add parity check bits to a set of information bits;
• to generate a non-coherent transmission signal by mapping the parity check bits and the set of information bits into a sequence of complex symbols;
• and
• to transmit the non-coherent transmission signal to a receiving device.

A receiving device for wireless communication comprising:

• a memory, and
• one or more processors operatively coupled to the memory, the memory and the one or more processors configured:
• to receive, from a transmitting device, a non-coherent signal having at least one segment, each segment comprising a sequence of complex symbols corresponding to information bits and parity check bits;
• and
• to jointly detect the sequences from each segment of the received non-coherent signal by using the parity check bits.
