Abstract
Systems, methods, and computer-readable mediums include detecting and eliminating a three-phase without neutral short-circuit in a load supplied by a power converter. After detecting the short circuit, the current at an output conductor for one of the three-phases is stopped and then resumed after a sufficient amount of current causes a downstream protection device of the faulty load to trip.

A power converter system, comprising:
- an input configured to be coupled to a power source and to receive single-phase or three-phase input power from the power source;
- power conversion circuitry coupled to the input and configured to convert the input power into three-phase output power;
- a first conductor coupled to the power conversion circuitry and configured to carry a first phase of the three-phase output power;
- a second conductor coupled to the power conversion circuitry and configured to carry a second phase of the three-phase output power;
- a third conductor coupled to the power conversion circuitry and configured to carry a third phase of the three-phase output power;
- an output coupled to the first conductor, the second conductor, and the third conductor, and configured to be coupled to a load and to provide the three-phase output power to the load;
- and
- a controller configured to:
- detect a first voltage on the first conductor,
- detect a second voltage on the second conductor,
- detect a third voltage on the third conductor,
- determine if the first voltage, the second voltage, and the third voltage are within a tolerance;
- and
- in response to determining that the first voltage, the second voltage, and the third voltage are within the tolerance, operate the power conversion circuitry to provide two-phase output power to the output.
A non-transitory computer-readable medium storing thereon sequences of computer-executable instructions for controlling a power converter system comprising an input configured to be coupled to a power source and to receive single-phase or three-phase input power from the power source, power conversion circuitry coupled to the input and configured to convert the input power into three-phase output power, a first conductor coupled to the power conversion circuitry and configured to carry a first phase of the three-phase output power, a second conductor coupled to the power conversion circuitry and configured to carry a second phase of the three-phase output power, a third conductor coupled to the power conversion circuitry and configured to carry a third phase of the three-phase output power, an output coupled to the first conductor, the second conductor, and the third conductor, and configured to be coupled to a load and to provide the three-phase output power to the load, and a controller, the sequences of computer-executable instructions that instruct the controller to:
- detect a first voltage of the first conductor;
- detect a second voltage of the second conductor;
- detect a third voltage of third conductor;
- determine if the first voltage, the second voltage, and the third voltage are within a tolerance;
- and
- in response to determining that the first voltage, the second voltage, and the third voltage are within the tolerance, operate the power conversion circuitry to provide two-phase output power to the output.
