A sulfur-carbon composite including a porous carbon material; a coating layer on a surface of the porous carbon material, the coating layer including a compound with electrolyte solution impregnation property; and sulfur, a method for preparing the same, and a positive electrode for a lithium-sulfur battery and a lithium-sulfur battery including the same are disclosed.

A sulfur-carbon composite comprising:
- a porous carbon material;
- a coating layer on a surface of the porous carbon material, said coating layer comprising a compound with electrolyte solution impregnation property;
- and
- sulfur.

A method for preparing a sulfur-carbon composite comprising the steps of:
- (a) coating a porous carbon material with a compound having electrolyte solution impregnation property;
- and
- (b) mixing and molding the porous carbon material coated with the compound having electrolyte solution impregnation property prepared in step (a) and sulfur.
