Customizable and extensible managed integration platform

A method comprising;

• obtaining, by an integration platform, a request from a first application using a first transmission method, the request comprising at least one data object;
• converting the at least one data object from a first application format to a platform specific format using a first connector to generate at least one first modified data object, the first connector specifying the first data transmission method;
• and
• converting the at least one first modified data object from the platform specific format to a first backend system format using a second connector to generate a second modified data object, wherein the second modified data object is consumable by the first backend system to perform an action in response to the request.

A non-transitory computer-readable storage medium storing thereon executable instructions that, as a result of being executed by one or more processors of a computer system, cause the computer system to at least:

• obtain, by an integration platform, a request from a first application, the request comprising at least one data object associated with an order;
• convert the at least one data object from a first application format to a platform specific format using a first connector to generate at least one first modified data object, the first connector specifying a plurality of linked data points that comprise the at least one first modified data object;
• store, by the integration platform, a record of the at least one first modified data object, the record comprising a status of the record;
• set the status to indicate that he at least one modified data object is ready to export to a backend system;
• and
• convert the at least one first modified data object from the platform specific format to a first backend system format using a second connector to generate a second modified data object, wherein the second modified data object is consumable by the backend system to perform an action in response to the order.
