Item detection and transitions

A system, comprising:

• an antenna configured to detect a plurality of item identifiers;
• a computing system in communication with the antenna, the computing system including:
• one or more processors;
• and
• a memory coupled to the one or more processors and storing program instructions that when executed by the one or more processors cause the one or more processors to at least:
• scan, with the antenna, at least a portion of a transition area to determine one or more items positioned in the transition area;
• generate, based at least in part on the scan, an item list indicating the one or more items;
• present, to a user, information corresponding to the one or more items;
• and
• transition the one or more items to the user, wherein the transition includes charging the user for the one or more items.

A computer-implemented method for transitioning items of a materials handling facility, comprising:

• under control of one or more computing systems configured with executable instructions,
• receiving, from an antenna of a transition area, one or more item identifiers corresponding to one or more items positioned within the transition area of the materials handling facility;
• determining a user positioned within the transition area;
• and
• transitioning an association of the item identifier from a first inventory position within the materials handling facility to the user, wherein the transition includes charging the user for the one or more items.
