Method and device for carbon dioxide emission information and/or compensation by a customer, which comprises utilizing a discount system integrated in a card scheme; and calculating a value by multiplying a price by a factor related to a Merchant Category Code (MCC), whereby the rounded value used is lesser than or equal null, optionally the value is always negative.

A Method for carbon dioxide emission information and/or compensation by a customer, which comprises:
- utilizing a discount system integrated in a card scheme;
- and
- calculating a value by multiplying a price by a factor related to a Merchant Category Code (MCC),
